William T. Monahan
Board of Advisors
William T. Monahan is the retired Chairman and CEO
of Imation Corp., where he served from November 1995
until June 2004. Imation Corp. is a leading developer,
manufacturer and supplier of magnetic and optical
removable data storage media. Imation spun off from
3M and became a public company on July 1, 1996.
Under Mr. Monahan’s leadership, Imation turned
a $429 million debt in 1998 into a $440 million cash
surplus by 2002. Mr. Monahan created at Imation a
new pay-for-performance culture, restructured the
company to succeed in low margin industries, and created
and implemented a long-term sustainable portfolio
strategy.
Mr. Monahan was formerly a Group Vice President at
3M, leading the Electro, Telecommunications and Visual
Groups. During his tenure at 3M, Mr. Monahan led a
multi-billion dollar group turnaround to double digit
growth and to a double digit percentage increase in
operating income.
Mr. Monahan is currently on the Board of Directors
of Hutchinson Technologies, Inc., a $600 million company
and high-tech manufacturer of lead arm assemblies
for the majority of all disk storage drives made in
the world, and Pentair Corporation, a $2.5 billion
company with manufacturing in three distinct worldwide
business, water technologies, electronic enclosures
and tools. Mr. Monahan also serves on the Board of
Directors of the MS Society (MN) and the United Way
of the Twin Cities.
Mr. Monahan holds a degree in economics from St. Peters
College in Jersey City, N.J, and an M.B.A. in Finance
and Marketing from Rutgers University.
Dr. Rajiv Tandon
Board of Advisors
Dr. Rajiv Tandon is CEO and President of Adayana,
Inc., a Minneapolis based e-Learning company providing
services and solutions that empower individuals to
learn. The company focuses on the Food and Agriculture,
Engineering and Financial Services vertical markets.
Dr. Tandon was CEO and President of LearningByte,
a multimedia training company that was acquired by
DigitalThink in October, 2001. Prior to that he was
Director of the Corporate Venturing Programs at the
University of St. Thomas, where he has taught MBA
level courses in Venture Management and Franchising.
His consulting clients included large companies, emerging
companies and venture capital firms. He also served
on the board of several emerging companies. He wrote
a regular column in Minnesota Ventures, a unique publication
dealing with emerging company issues. In 1992, he
was awarded the Edwin M. Appel Prize by the Price-Babson
Program "for bringing entrepreneurial vitality
to academia" and also the same year he was honored
with the "Excellence in Teaching Through Innovation"
Award by the graduate and undergraduate business programs
at St. Thomas.
He started his career as an engineer in a steel foundry.
After emigrating to the U.S. in 1969, he held several
positions at National Car Rental, including corporate
vice president and general manager of the Car Rental
Division. His responsibilities included worldwide
marketing, sales, operations and franchising. In other
positions, he managed a broad range of staff functions
including MIS, Strategic Planning, Financial Analysis
and Operation Research. Under a Bush Leadership Fellowship,
his doctoral dissertation in entrepreneurship examined
critical success factors in emerging companies and
built a model for evaluating the success potential
of new opportunities.
Dr. Tandon holds a Mechanical Engineering degree,
with honors, from the Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
From the University of Minnesota , Dr. Tandon has
received an M.S. in Operations Research, an M.B.A.
and a Ph. D. in Entrepreneurship.
Barbara Cederberg
Board of Advisors
Barbara Cederberg is Vice President, Innovation Development
for Taylor Corporation. She is the former Chief Operating
Officer of Alignor. Prior to joining Alignor, Ms.
Cederberg was President, Color Technologies, Vice-President
Imation Corporation. At Imation, Ms. Cederberg pioneered
the application of interest-based analysis and decision-making
to managing key business relationships. She has considerable
operational expertise in general management, technology
management and business process improvement. Under
her leadership, her organizations have achieved breakthrough
results in new product time to market, marketing and
sales productivity, manufacturing process capability,
and reduction in working capital.
In addition to her role as President, Color Technologies
for Imation, Ms. Cederberg has held numerous leadership
positions at Imation and 3M Company. She has also
served as Corporate Vice-President, Strategy and Development
for Kodak Polychrome Graphics.
Ms. Cederberg holds a Masters of Science in Chemistry
from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor of
Arts in Chemistry and Biology from Macalester College.
She completed the Wharton Executive Development Program
in General Management. |
