Is it better to use stakeholder needs analysis for dealing with internal or external stakeholders?

You can use the same 3-step process for dealing with both internal and external stakeholders. The two main differences are: 1) when dealing with internal stakeholders, you may want to be particularly careful about whether and how you communicate the consequences of no agreement so as not to damage relationships; and 2) it may be desirable to invite internal stakeholders to participate with you in discussing everyone’s interests while that may be impractical with external stakeholders. Other than these differences, your stakeholder needs analysis should be equally useful when you are dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
